We’ve had a huge month at Warped Games, hitting major milestones in both development and design.

On the development side, Warped Universe is evolving rapidly, with major progress on core gameplay loops, mission maps, and Battle Passes. We’ve embraced the Warped identity even further with our Echo suits, refining their materials, designs, and lighting variations to reflect multiple Battle Pass tiers. You’re going to want to level up.

Over at Nexus Station, the mission selection map at the center is now fully interactive, displaying various mission types, locations such as planets and void tears, and system balance updates. The sun’s lighting dynamically shifts to reflect the balance between Light and Gravity in the solar system, tying the visual experience to the game’s deeper mechanics.

We also had the incredible opportunity to attend the D.I.C.E. Awards in Vegas last month, where we met with Mysten Labs, our partners behind Sui Network and the SuiPlay0X1. It was a fantastic chance to discuss plans for SuiPlay0X1, our upcoming booth at the Sui Gaming Summit, and, of course, to showcase the latest progress on Warped Universe, something they’re always eager to see.

Meeting in person helped strengthen our partnership and align our vision for the future. We’re excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to share more as we continue developing Warped Universe on Sui.

Our final highlight, and a huge milestone for the entire team, is that our Steam store page is now live! Seeing Warped Universe on a platform we’ve all used for decades is a dream come true.

GAME DEVELOPMENT

Ship and Character Itemization

  • Improved character customization interface
  • Added new Ship parts, mesh optimization, and stats
  • New skeleton for Ship, assigned new skeleton and weight painted verts to bones for ship piece skeletal meshes
  • Designed and implemented new armor pieces for characters
    • Multiple variants of each armor piece
    • Holographic armor parts
    • Back item pieces
    • Auras
  • New stuff for decals embedded into skeletal mesh export
  • Items now have a ‘Potential’ stat which is used to modify items
  • Implemented support for damage and resistance modifiers to real-time and turn-based
  • Added UI tools for displaying item descriptions
  • Improved lighting effects on the character customization module
  • All customizable morph targets and color parameters are hooked up for Mutable characters

Planetary System Map

  • System map now set to starting Season Zero values
  • System map is now an interactive hex display
  • Designed and created map objects for areas that can be explored
  • Added four types of hex tiles for different sector states
  • New asset created to represent the discovery of a sector
  • Designed and added six unique planets
    • Animated planets and moons
    • Players can now select, zoom in, and manually rotate planets
    • Moons now rotate around parent planet
    • Added mini facility models on planets
  • Animation of asteroids around Residuum mission locations
  • Implemented first pass of interface for system objects
  • Depth of field changes to the system map camera giving a more cinematic feel
  • Animated pieces and created new effects for Void Tears

Battle Pass

  • Added lens flare post process to Hall of Champions
  • Five new armor tiers for each seasonal difficulty achievement
  • Added cosmetic guns for all weapon types
  • Added a gun display to the cosmetic area
  • Altered base armor material to be more reflective
  • New battle pass tier names added to display area
  • Added new animations for moving parts around tier displays
  • Created COs for full Tier 1 through 5 outfits to display on character

Combat Maps and Gameplay

  • Added cover terrain assets to the gameplay test map
  • Work on getting PCG random ramps around finalized base plate
  • Fixed wind debris material by calling new alpha texture in planet birthing map
  • Organization of facility parts for PCG optimization

Full Player Account Creation

  • Progress on backend services and data persistence (Beamable)
  • Implemented frictionless authentication with platform (Epic)
  • Added character customization and serialization
  • Initial work on items and player inventory

Web2 / Web 3

  • Continued work on Web3 flows
  • Started compliance and legal onboarding with XSOLLA payment platform
  • Enforced royalty and Sui Kiosk rules
  • Implementing primary marketplace for NFT trading using Koju
  • Refactor and general cleanup of Web3 codebase including:
    • Move modules
    • APIs
    • UI
  • Prepared for move to Devnet
  • Ongoing work with Mysten Labs and Beamable teams

Business & Marketing

  • Launched the Steam page - Wishlist now!
  • Attended D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas
